Coach Developers

Who coaches the coaches? NCCP Coach Developers do!

According to the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE), Coach Developers “are not simply experienced coaches or transmitters of coaching knowledge – they are trained to develop, support, and challenge coaches to go on honing and improving their knowledge and skills in order to provide positive and effective sport experiences for all participants.” In short, Coach Developers need to be experts in learning, as well as experts in coaching.

NCCP Coach Developers include Master Coach Developers, Learning Facilitators, and Coach Evaluators.

Master Coach Developers (MCD) are the coaches who train LFs and Evaluators. Athletics Canada will ensure that there is at least one MCD trained and working in each branch.

Learning Facilitators (LF’s) are responsible for leading the NCCP courses.  Learning Facilitators are selected and trained by each provincial branch.

Coach Evaluators are responsible for evaluating coaches for certification.  Evaluators are selected and trained by each provincial branch.

Contact your provincial branch to find out when Coach Developer training is planned.
